A viral TikTok video shows the incredible moment that a nurse jumped into action as she noticed a young boy choking to death inside a Georgia restaurant.
In a nearly 40-second clip, Charis Putmon, 35, is seen rushing in as the mother of the boy screams out for help, giving the child the Heimlich maneuver as others watch.
Seconds later, the boy finally speaks after the item in his throat was dislodged by the nurse, prompting his weeping mom to immediately embrace Putmon.
‘I looked her in the eyes and said I’m a mom of five, I get it,’ Putmon told WSB-TV.
Putmon posted the restaurant video to TikTok on September 10 and it has since received 2 million likes, 12 million views, and thousands of comments.
‘Thank you beautiful for saving that boy! You are 👼 right time, right place,’ wrote one TikTok user whose comment received thousands of likes.

The video starts with the unidentified mother holding her son in her arms as she notices something in his mouth and tells him to spit it out.
The worried woman quickly realizes the item is stuck in the boy’s throat and that he is choking, causing her to put him on the ground and call out for the boy’s father.
‘Help! Help, spit it out! Help,’ she is heard crying out in what appears to be the lobby of the Tacos and Tequila Mexican Grill in Buford, Georgia.
‘When I looked over and I saw the look in the dad’s eyes, and the look of terror and despair on his face, that’s what made me jump up out of my seat,’ said Putmon.
Suddenly, the nurse – who said she had been ordering a margarita when she noticed the unfolding situation – and her husband are seen emerging from a row of tables as she examines the situation.
Her husband used that time to comfort the concerned mother.
‘She’s a nurse, she’s a nurse,’ her husband says. ‘She’s got this, I promise you.’
Putmon told the Georgia local outlet that the situation is a bit of a blur but that she remembers jumping into action to try and save the child.
‘I just remember just coming around and just picking the little boy up and reacting,’ she said, explaining how she got straight to work performing the Heimlich Maneuver.
‘I remember after the second, third thrust, I remember whatever was in his mouth was dislodged and the dad was like “Thank you he’s ok,”‘ she said.
The boy’s mother – who screamed ‘Oh God’ as Putmon performed the lifesaving procedure – immediately grabbed the nurse and hugged her.

‘To the person who helped be the glory.’
‘Can you ever thank some one enough?’
‘Wow, why am I crying?’
‘A baddie with life saving skills. You’re amazing.’
‘omg! As a mom, thank you! every parents worst nightmare. May the heavens continue to rain blessings on you.’

Putmon, a nurse for nearly a decade, told WSB-TV that she decided to post the video to raise awareness to an important thing the boy’s mother did to save his life.
‘Screaming help, calling for help like that mother did that was so vital and key and getting that baby quick assistance,’ she said.
She said for those who are not trained in the Heimlich Maneuver, getting loud when in a dire situation can mean the difference between life and death.
She concedes that her being there and so close to the boy in his time of need was nothing short of a miracle since they had also ‘just walked in.’
‘We could’ve easily been seated at the back of the restaurant,’ said Putmon.
